Our History

Since 1921, Citizens Trust Bank has been a long lasting leader in the financial services industry.  The vision of the five founding fathers of the institution continues with a legacy of pride and dedication to the economic empowerment to the people and communities it serves.

Our Mission

For more than three-quarters of a century Citizens Trust Bank has been serving the metro Atlanta community with banking services. This long history, by any measure of longevity, is one of which all of Atlanta should be immensely proud.

Shareholder Information

Greetings to our valued supporters of Citizens Bancshares Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary Citizens Trust Bank. This year, though profitable, was far from a banner year in many aspects. Shortly after the end of the year, we lost our President and CEO, James E. Young, to a very serious illness. We know that you join us in celebrating and honoring his commitment and service to our institution for over 14 years. We are especially grateful to him for guiding this institution with a steady and firm hand, more specifically in the last three years known as the “Great Recession.” In spite of the recession and a fragile economy, he left the institution profitable and well-capitalized. There are still challenges we must face and obstacles we must overcome. Yet we are thankful that we are standing strong, in the midst of so many bank failures around us, and we are forging ahead toward the future. More
